Only the ngöndro parts need a count. Everything else can be streak-only.
Friends see streaks. Nobody sees counts.
A streak is the number of days in a row you practised. You choose, practice by practice, whether friends can see it. Counts, rounds, totals and targets stay on your devices, sealed.
A session counts for the day it started, and the streak holds until midnight after the next day, in whichever time zone gives you more time. Travel does not break it.
Nudges from friends
When a friend finishes a practice, you get a note. When you have not, they can poke you. That is the whole social feature, and it is deliberately small. There is no member directory and no feed.
Invitation-only
A member shares an invite as a link or a QR code. It works for seven days. Opening it joins you to the person who sent it as friends. Membership in a Buddhist practice app says something about your beliefs, so nobody can look up who is in it.
Got a link but no app? The invite page shows the code to paste into the app once it is installed.
Works offline
Every count is written to your phone first and synced later. A retreat with no signal loses nothing. You can also use the app on one phone only, with no account.
Encryption, in plain words
Sealed on your phone
Sessions, counts, rounds, targets and notes are encrypted before they leave the device. The keys never leave your devices.
The server never sees a count
It stores sealed blobs it cannot open. It checks sizes and signatures and nothing else.
What it does see
Your account, display name and avatar, your friends, who invited whom, and the streaks you chose to publish. It also sees when you sync and roughly how much.
No tracking
No analytics, no trackers, no third-party fonts or scripts. This site makes no requests to anyone else.
Details are in the draft privacy policy.
Open source
You can read what the app and the server do, and check the claims above against the code.
